2016 U.S. IPOS LAG IN NUMBER FILED, TOTAL DOLLAR VALUE

Despite a pick-up in the second quarter, the 69 initial public offerings filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the first half of 2016 is the lowest number of IPOs filed in a first half of the year since 2009.

The total dollar value of total IPOs filed in the first half of 2016 has also seen a significant decline since the IPO boom in 2014. The $10,261 million in the first half of 2016 represents a 54.9 percent decrease from $22,758 million in the first half of 2015 and an 85.9 percent decrease from $72,723 million in the first half of 2014.

The average dollar value of total IPOs filed dropped from $345 million in the first half of 2014, to $144 million in the first half of 2015, but then increased slightly to $149 million in the first half of 2016.
