Ostendorff Calls Yucca Stalemate Biggest Disappointment at NRC

Commissioner William Ostendorff is leaving the Nuclear Regulatory Commission June 30, after six years of service and more than 740 votes on NRC decisions. He is returning to serve as a distinguished visiting professor this fall at his alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy.

In an interview with Bloomberg BNA, he said one of his greatest disappointments during his tenure has been the administration's decision to stop the license application process for Yucca Mountain as a long-term repository for high-level radioactive waste.
