The Affordable Care Act: The Road Forward for Employers
Employers are faced with more compliance challenges due to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and important deadlines are fast approaching – summaries of benefits and coverage, W-2 reporting and the cap on health FSA salary deferrals, among others, go into effect in 2013 or sooner. And by 2014, employers must be prepared for the “pay-or-play” mandate, ACA’s most important provision affecting employers. After 2014, other ACA rules expand employer access to state-based health insurance exchanges and tax “Cadillac” employer-sponsored group health plans.
