An overview of alcoholic beverage law in the United States, both federal and state. Topics include product classification, trade practices regulation, labeling, advertising, excise taxation, and distribution.

• What is the three-tier distribution system and how is it crafted into law?

• How do alcohol excise tax rates work and who is liable for the taxes?

Marc E. Sorini, Partner / McDermott Will & Emery LLP
Marc E. Sorini is a partner with McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He is the leader of the firm’s Regulatory Practice Group and Alcohol Regulatory & Distribution Group. His practice focuses on regulatory, distribution and litigation issues facing the alcoholic beverage industry.

Mr. Sorini earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Lehigh University.

Arthur J. DeCelle, Counsel / McDermott Will & Emery LLP
Arthur J. DeCelle, counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, focuses his practice on alcoholic beverage regulation at all levels of government and on legal and public policy challenges facing heavily regulated industries. Prior to joining McDermott, Mr. DeCelle was the general counsel of the Beer Institute for 16 years. He has also held senior staff positions in the U.S. House of Representatives and has worked on several federal political campaigns.

Mr. DeCelle earned a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and B.A. and M.A. degrees from St. John’s University.

Hardship Policy
Bloomberg BNA offers a hardship policy for any attorney earning less than $30,000 per year. If an attorney wishes to take advantage of this option, he or she must do so in writing and also provide proof of hardship. If approval is granted, a discount of 50% off the full registration price of the program will be awarded.
