Sarah A. Altschuller is Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Foley Hoag LLP where she has been a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice since 2003. Ms. Altschuller advises multinational companies regarding the development and implementation of CSR strategies, policies, and procedures, as well as compliance with emerging legal and regulatory requirements.  She provides counsel regarding engagements with socially responsible investors, government policymakers, local communities, non-governmental organizations, and other key stakeholders.  She also conducts site-level human rights and labor rights impact assessments, as well as due diligence efforts. Ms. Altschuller earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Williams College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

 

She is a co-author of the Bloomberg BNA Corporate Practice Portfolio Series No. 93, Corporate Social Responsibility.  This portfolio volume discusses a wide range of legal and business concerns facing companies today. It focuses primarily, but not exclusively, on the social impacts of business activities.  It also provides practical advice concerning emerging new business forms that represent a "hybrid" between traditional for-profit corporate enterprises and nonprofit business entities established to pursue a public benefit.
