Congressional leaders of both parties should stop nibbling around the edges of tax reform with modest small business bills and instead bite into the meatier portions of the tax code that will have a greater impact on taxpayers, pro-business tax analysts tell BNA. House Republicans and Senate Democrats are pushing competing bills (H.R. 9, S. 2237) that they say will put money in the pockets of small businesses, increase hiring, and stimulate the economy. But analysts say those bills add complexity to the tax code and distract from the greater problems facing all businesses, including a corporate tax rate that will become the highest in the world on April 1.
