Buonicore (April 2011; 12 pages) Renewable energy policy in the United States has continued along an erratic path in recent years, largely reflective of intermittent bouts of federal government stimulus and favorable regulatory policy. This article reviews the increasing role energy efficiency will play in the renewable energy area driven by emerging energy disclosure and labeling laws. The role of a new ASTM standard, designed to facilitate and standardize the way building energy-use information is gathered and analyzed in the regulatory compliance process, also are addressed.
