This article reviews the increasing role energy efficiency will play in the renewable energy area driven by emerging energy disclosure and labeling laws. The role of a new ASTM standard, designed to facilitate and standardize the way building energy-use information is gathered and analyzed in the regulatory compliance process, also are addressed.
