Erin E. Atkins is an Associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Reed Smith LLP. Ms. Atkins is part of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group, where she advises providers, pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, payors, hospital systems, DMEPOS suppliers and others on regulatory compliance, reimbursement and transactional issues related to the Medicare, Medicare Advantage, 340B and Medicaid programs. She also provides clients with fraud and abuse counseling under the federal anti-kickback statute and Stark Law.
In addition to assisting clients with health care regulatory issues, Ms. Atkins' practice also encompasses health care transactional services, such as review, negotiation and preparation of health care related contracts and agreements. She manages transactional due diligence reviews and analysis for health care acquisitions, mergers and changes of ownership.
She also provides review and analysis of various issues under FDA regulations and agency guidance to device and pharmaceutical clients involving good manufacturing practices (GMP), labeling, and medical device reporting (MDR).
Prior to her career as a health care attorney, Ms. Atkins practice focused on capital markets and commercial mortgage backed securities finance.
Ms. Atkins earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Appalachian State University and her J.D. from Mercer University.
She is a co-author of the Bloomberg BNA Health Law & Business Portfolio Series No. 3200, The Regulation and Management of Clinical Research.
