Brian E. Banner, who practices in Washington, D.C., with The Banner Firm LLC, concentrates on counseling clients on questions arising out of marketing, advertising, and sales of branded products and services, and on other aspects of trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law; the enforcement of common law and registered rights under the Lanham Act; and unfair competition and copyright law cases. He represents clients in enforcement actions before district courts and in proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He also assists clients in the management and licensing of their brands and copyrighted works worldwide.

He was previously a member of H & A Intellectual Property Law, PLLC, Of Counsel with Rothwell, Figg, Ernst & Manbeck, and Partner with Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. Prior to private practice, he served as corporate trademark counsel at Monsanto Company and Munsingwear, Inc., following his service at the USPTO as a Trademark Examining Attorney.

Mr. Banner has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, the George Mason University School of Law, where for the past nine years he has taught U.S. Trademark Law and advanced Trademark and Unfair Competition Law. As an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law, he has served as a member of that Section’s Council, Secretary of the Section, Chair of various Trademark Division committees, Vice Chair of the Editorial Books Board and first editor of the Section’s newsletter.

He earned his B.S. from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School.

Mr. Banner is the Editor-in-Chief of the ABA/Bloomberg BNA treatise Trademark Infringement Remedies.
