Martin J. Bishop is a Partner at Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Bishop is a trial attorney with a focus on complex general commercial litigation, consumer financial services litigation, class actions, and a variety of emergency and other injunctive relief proceedings. He is also Vice Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, and Co-Chair of the Consumer Financial Services Practice. He has litigated and tried cases in jurisdictions across the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico. Mr. Bishop has extensive experience in federal and state appeals.

Mr. Bishop frequently writes and lectures about a variety of topics. In the area of consumer financial services, he is the founder, editor, and a contributor to the CFSL Bulletin (CFSLBulletin.com), a blog devoted to legal developments in consumer financial services litigation. In addition, Mr. Bishop regularly speaks on the topic of developments in the area, including the recent developments under Title X of the Dodd-Frank Act. Among other articles, he recently co-authored “UDAAP: Shouldn’t the CFPB Give Us More Information?” which was featured as the top story in Pay Before Legal (September 2012) and authored “The very dangerous intersection of UDAAP and vendor mismanagement” (Thomson Reuters Insight, September 2012) and “5 Revealing Points on UDAAP from Director Cordray,” also in Pay Before Legal (January 2013).
He received his B.A. from Florida Atlantic University and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.
