The first Earth Day is celebrated worldwide; BNA launches Environment Reporter  May 1.

September

BNA first uses a computer to speed production of its indexes and case tables.


1964
July

Congress passes the Civil Rights Act.  A BNA book on how the Act affects business sells more than 2,000 copies in its first 3 weeks.

April 18

John Stewart, first cousin of actor James Stewart, succeeds Dean Dinwoodey as BNA President.


1950
June

North Korean forces invade South Korea. BNA’s Federal Controls, launched in 1951, covers price controls instituted for the Korean War.
