American business is prevalent in Canada. U.S. companies engaged in businesses ranging from manufacturing, to retail, to energy production are active across Canada. U.S. based companies, in turn, sell more goods to Canada than to all of the countries in the European Economic Community combined.

Whether doing business "on site" in Canada or selling product and services into Canada, U.S. employers benefit from understanding the differences in Canada's labor laws

This webinar approaches Canada's laws related to union organizing and collective bargaining from a U.S., frame of reference. The goal is to explain what is different in the following areas:

  • The procedure through which unions gain representation rights - card check and expedited votes
  • The collective bargaining process in Canada
  • Managing under a collective agreement in Canada
  • Unfair Labor Practices
  • Union claims in a sale of business or reorganization.

The webinar will be of benefit to U.S. practitioners who have responsibility for operations in Canada whether their employees are presently not represented by a union or involved in a collective bargaining relationship.
