Cyber Coverage Basics
With the many differences between cyber insurance coverage and other forms of coverage it is important to understand the basics in order to make informed coverage decisions. This panel breaks down key terminology within cyber liability coverages, along with providing an understanding of what types of coverages exist and factors to consider in determining whether your company needs cyber insurance. The panel is comprised of experts who provided both the insurance broker’s perspective and the insurance buyer’s perspective.

Advanced Cyber Coverage
This panel takes an in-depth look at cyber insurance coverage and ways that companies can protect themselves from threats such as wrongful collection, phishing and other cyber attacks. They also discuss the benefits of a cyber insurance policy as well as problems that companies are facing with their cyber coverage. The broker’s, buyer’s, underwriter’s and legal perspectives are all presented with an attempt to convey a full understanding of cyber coverage today -- and where it is heading.

Cyber Coverage Basics

Moderator: Meredith Schnur, Wells Fargo Insurance
Meredith Schnur is a Senior Vice President in the Professional Risk Group at Wells Fargo Insurance. Ms. Schnur serves as an in house resource for all professional liability, technology errors & omissions, media, network security and privacy related lines of coverage. In her role, she provides consultative services, market negotiations, policy analysis and placement, policy administration and claims advocacy services. Additionally, Ms. Schnur serves as PRG’s National Product Leader for the Technology, Privacy and Network Risk Practice. Ms. Schnur has 18 years of experience in the insurance industry, the last 9 as a broker in the Professional Risk Group. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Insurance Services, Ms. Schnur was an underwriter at Royal & SunAlliance and American International Group. She spent 9 years underwriting professional and technology errors & omissions lines of coverage. Ms. Schnur speaks on various panels relating to the topics of network security and privacy for all industry classes. She also conducts seminars on behalf of Wells Fargo Insurance local and regional offices.

Joe DePaul, Arthur J. Gallagher
Joe DePaul is the CyberRisk Services Practice Leader at Arthur J. Gallagher. He is responsible for management, business development, marketing and consulting within the products and services related to Cyber Risk. These specifically include: Cyber Liability, Privacy Liability, Network Security Liability, Media Liability & Patent Liability. Previous to Gallagher, Joe held senior positions at AmWins Brokerage, AON, Marsh & Gulf Insurance Company. Mr. DePaul began his insurance career in 1994, currently has 18 years of experience and has developed expertise in all aspects of Cyber & Executive Risk products.

David J. Molitano, OneBeacon Professional Insurance
David J. Molitano, Vice President, is the Division Manager for OneBeacon Professional Insurance’s Content, Technology, and Services Division. Prior to joining OBPI, Mr. Molitano was the Vice President of Technology at XL Capital. Prior to XL Capital, Mr. Molitano was a Product Manager at Beazley, USA, Mr. Molitano’s extensive underwriting background includes being an Underwriting Manager for Professional Liability at Lexington Insurance Company, and Zone Manager for Wholesale Professional Liability at Chubb. Mr. Molitano received a Bachelor’s of Art degree from Central Connecticut State University, and his Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Max Perkins, Beazley Group
Max Perkins joined Beazley Group in October of 2010, as an Underwriter for the Technology, Media & Business Services team. Previously, Mr. Perkins was an underwriter at ACE Group and AIG, providing professional liability and information security/privacy insurance to companies in both the middle market and large risk segments. Mr. Perkins resides in Philadelphia, is a graduate of Duke University, and is a native of North Carolina.

Matt Prevost, Philadelphia Insurance Company
Matt Prevost is an Assistant Vice President in Philadelphia Insurance Company’s Management and Professional Liability Division. He oversees the underwriting, training, production and claims strategies for PHLY’s cyber and miscellaneous professional liability products. He has been with Philadelphia for nine years; handling exclusively D&O, E&O and Cyber Liability products. He holds an RPLU designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and is a certified continuing education instructor for Cyber and E&O in over 36 states. He is a graduate of Lafayette College with a degree in International Economics and Commerce. He also studied International Finance at Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Dijon in Dijon, France. Mr. Prevost and his wife currently reside in Ardmore, PA. Outside of work, Mr. Prevost enjoys golfing, skiing and fishing. He is also involved in the Lafayette Lacrosse Alumni Association.

Advanced Cyber Coverage

Moderator: Michael Schmitt, Lockton Companies, LLC
Michael Schmitt joined Lockton Companies, LLC in August of 2012, working in Global Technology and Privacy Practice, as AVP and Account Executive. Schmitt previously worked at Beazley Insurance as the Manager of their U.S. Middle Market Practice. Prior to Beazley, he held management liability positions with Chubb and Standard Insurance Company. Education: Schmitt holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and secondary education from the University of St. Thomas in the Twin Cities.

Oliver Brew, Liberty International Underwriters
Oliver Brew is Vice President of Technology E&O, Privacy and Miscellaneous Professional at Liberty International Underwriters. He joined in 2011, and prior to that he was at Hiscox for 7 years where he held various underwriting positions, most recently running the middle market technology & privacy group. He moved to New York in 2006, and before that ran the technology account at CFC Underwriting in Lloyds and started his career at Willis in London. He is a Chartered Insurer, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), as well as a Certified Information Privacy Professional. Education: He graduated from Cambridge University with a major in Politics.

Matthew L. Jacobs, Jenner & Block LLP
Matthew L. Jacobs of Jenner & Block LLP has been successfully litigating insurance coverage matters for more than 25 years, and he handles complex, multi-party insurance coverage matters in state and federal courts. He obtained a ruling of first impression under Virginia law from a federal district court in 2012 regarding the issue of exhaustion of underlying insurance limits. He also recently recovered $15.5 million for a client following a two-day mediation over a large contingent business interruption claim related to the October 2011 Thai floods. Corporations seek his counsel on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, ranging from directors and officers liability to business interruption losses, product liability and regulatory investigations and environmental matters. He also regularly advises Fortune 500 companies in the placement and renewal of various types of insurance coverage, including directors and officers policies and cyber insurance. Education: University of Virginia School of Law, J.D., 1981.

Scott Kannry, Aon Professional Risk Solutions
Scott Kannry is a member of Aon’s Professional Risk Solutions team and focuses exclusively on Errors Omissions coverage – including Professional Liability, Privacy/Cyberliability, and Intellectual Property. His areas of expertise include policy design and customization, client and vendor contract review, and M&A due diligence. He works with clients in all industry sectors, including Xerox/ACS, NASDAQ/OMX, ABB, CACI International, McGraw Hill and TransUnion. He recently returned to Aon after completing his JD and MBA from Northwestern. Previously, he spent 6 years on the Professional Risk Solutions team in the Chicago Aon office. Mr. Kannry also has industry experience from internships at TransUnion LLC, Accretive LLC (New York based VC firm) and in Morgan Stanley’s wealth management group.

Jim Whetstone, Hiscox USA
Jim Whetstone is US Technology and Privacy Manager at Hiscox, the international specialist insurer. In this capacity, Mr. Whetstone manages the technology errors and omissions and the privacy and data breach insurance products and underwriting operations in the US. Prior to joining Hiscox, Mr. Whetstone underwrote the professional liability product suite as an Assistant Vice President in ACE USA’s Professional Risk division, where he specialized in technology and privacy insurance. Prior to joining ACE USA, Mr. Whetstone was a Vice President in Aon’s Technology and Professional Risk group. Prior to working in the insurance industry, Mr. Whetstone spent more than 10 years in various technology-related roles in both traditional and new-economy industries, including with Andersen Consulting, Rockwell Automation and the internet startup, Webvan. Mr. Whetstone received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He specialized in a logistics program that combined requirements from the highly regarded business and engineering schools, and graduated with high honors.

Rick Welsh, AEGIS
Rick Welsh joined AEGIS London in 2012, as Head of Cyber Insurance. He has over 24 years experience in the insurance industry and 14 years experience in this class, having built technology and cyber insurance practices in both Sydney and London. Prior to AEGIS London, Mr. Welsh established one of the first London cyber insurance practices at ACE Global Markets in 2000 and the Management & Technology Liability practice at Aspen in 2008.

This program’s CLE-credit eligibility varies by state. Bloomberg BNA is an accredited provider in the states of New York*, California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia, and most other jurisdictions grant CLE credit on a per-program basis. At this time, Bloomberg BNA does not apply directly to the states of Florida, Rhode Island, Montana and Hawaii although credit is usually available for attorneys who wish to apply individually. Additionally, the following states currently do not grant credit for Bloomberg BNA OnDemand programming: Arkansas, Ohio, Nebraska, and Delaware. Hardship Policy
Bloomberg BNA offers a hardship policy for attorneys earning less than $50,000 per year. If an attorney wishes to take advantage of this option, he or she must contact Bloomberg BNA directly. For attorneys who are unemployed or earning less than $35,000 per year, a full discount off the price of the program will be awarded upon written proof of hardship. Attorneys earning between $35,000 and $50,000 per year will receive a 50% discount off the price of the program. Any attorney working in the public service sector also qualifies for a special price.
