As trading partners, Denmark and the United States share a long, rich history. Americans invest more in Denmark than any other country, accounting for more than 1/3 of all foreign investments there. There are more than 400 US-based companies in Denmark, in a wide range of sectors, including business services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, IT, manufacturing, travel and tourism, banking, finance and insurance. Denmark is also the logistical doorway to markets in both the Baltics and Russia, making it an ideal place to situate warehouses and distribution centers. That is why companies such as Dell and Biogen Idec chose Denmark for service and manufacturing facilities. And more are coming.

A good knowledge of employment law operating in the relevant jurisdiction where U.S. companies conduct their business operation and hire or wish to hire local nationals is vital in maintaining good staff relations and avoiding disputes.

Join Jacob Sand, a partner in the Aarhus, Denmark, office of Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel, as he provides the essential information necessary to organizations considering doing business in Denmark, or for those with a presence in Denmark already.

Get a general overview of the Danish labor market system and basic conditions of employment, including:
•The Danish labor and employment model
•The framework of the employment relationship
•Hiring a new employee
•Wages, pension and working hours
•Maternity/paternity leave, holiday and absence due to illness
•Dismissals
•Useful links to employment law information
