Juan Carlos Abelairas joined Greenberg Traurig in April, 2000 after twenty years with Miami litigation and corporate boutique, Thomson Muraro Razook & Hart, where he served as Paralegal Supervisor and managed the implementation of numerous technical solutions. Mr. Abelairas has been responsible for the installation of a local area networks, accounting systems, development and upgrading of docketing databases, conversion of analog trunks to digital phone lines, installation of high speed internet and firewall, computer purchasing, Y2K preparation, and negotiation of technical services contracts with vendors. Juan Carlos has been involved with litigation support since the introduction of the personal computer in the early 1980's and has designed many document control databases for large litigation. He is also an experienced litigation paralegal with expertise in appeals, commercial and environmental matters.

Mr. Abelairas obtained his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Miami Christian College in 1992, with dual majors in Human Resources Management and Biblical Studies. He continued to be involved in education through service on the Board of Regents of Trinity International University (college, law school and seminary) (1998-99), and the Advisory Committee of Miami Dade College's Paralegal Program (2003 to the present), where he served as Chairman of the committee. Mr. Abelairas has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College, teaching Computers in the Law Firm and Paralegal Ethics courses.

As Greenberg Traurig's Litigation Support Manager, Juan Carlos is involved in the selection and implementation of enterprise level litigation support solutions. Under the Chief Information Offices, he is also responsible for the development and implementation of the firm's litigation support structure and the hiring and supervision of national staff as well as negotiating and managing contracts with vendors. Mr. Abelairas serves as consultant to attorneys and clients regarding litigation support, courtroom presentations, and electronic discovery projects. Mr. Abelairas presents seminars for attorneys and paralegals throughout the firm regarding litigation support and electronic discovery.

Mr. Abelairas also serves as Greenberg Traurig's Paralegal Development Manager where he represents the interests of paralegals before senior management. In this role, he is responsible for the development of the national agenda for the paralegal group, and works with human resources and local business directors on billing expectations, compensation, benefits, orientation, training, and profitability issues. Mr. Abelairas has developed orientation and training materials as well as a bonus plan for the firm's paralegals. Mr. Abelairas also developed a framework for the employment of land use planners and other non-legal professionals at GT.

Kevin F. Brady is a Litigation Partner and Chair of the Business Law Group of the Wilmington, Delaware office of Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz LLP. Prior to joining Connolly Bove in March 2005, Kevin was Counsel in the Complex Mass Torts and Insurance Group of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP in Wilmington, Delaware, for almost 20 years. Kevin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, his M.B.A. from Widener University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.

Kevin is a member of the Advisory Board for the Sedona Conference and he is also a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group on Best Practices for Electronic Document Retention and Production. He is a Co-Chair of the Georgetown University Law Center’s Advisory Board for the Advanced E-Discovery Institute and Co-Chair of Georgetown’s E-Discovery Training Institute. Kevin is also an Advisory Board member of BNA's Digital Discovery & e-Evidence Report. Kevin is a member of the Ad Hoc Committee for Electronic Discovery of the U.S. District Court of Delaware, a member of the Delaware Court of Chancery Rules Committee and a member of the Delaware Superior Court Rules Committee on Electronic Discovery. He is frequently requested to participate as an author, speaker and presenter in the areas such as electronic discovery, records management, ethics and professionalism.

Robert Alan Eisenberg, Vice President of Consulting Services, Precise, Inc. - Mr. Eisenberg has over 30 years experience in the practice of law and the rendering of consultative services relating to the discovery of Electronically Stored Information (ESI), computer forensics, 'proactive" electronic data preservation and retention and traditional paper-based litigation support services. Mr. Eisenberg frequently conducts seminars, CLE courses and other presentations on the subjects of E-discovery, Computer Forensics and Electronic Records Management. He is the creator of a seminar program in Automated Litigation Support Services at Georgetown University's Legal Assistant Certification Program (LAP) and a member of that program's Advisory Board. Mr. Eisenberg is the Founding Chair and Permanent Co-Chair of The Advanced E-Discovery Institute (AEI) at The Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. AEI is the only annual CLE program dedicated to the discipline of e-discovery in the United States that is sponsored by a major law school and hosts the CLE program in E-discovery that numbers the most members of the federal judiciary on its faculty. AEI has, since its inception, morphed into a combination think tank, policy group and CLE program. Mr. Eisenberg is currently a Permanent Co-Chair of the Institute, which boasts an Advisory Board and faculty of some of the most renowned jurists, practitioners, technologists, practice support professionals, consultants and educators in the discipline of E-discovery. The Institute's CLE program expanded to 3-days in 2006 and in presently in its 6th year.

Mr. Eisenberg is also the originator and founding co-chair of Georgetown Law Center's E-discovery Training Academy; a unique school for the comprehensive practical training of attorneys, practice support professionals and technical specialists in the entire spectrum of legal strategies and technological services that constitute the full practice of e-discovery. The Academy is the only program of its kind affiliated with a major law school. Mr. Eisenberg has also co-founded and is the Project Co-Chair of Georgetown Law's eDiscovery Practice Support Project.

Mr. Eisenberg sits on the Advisory Board of BNA's Digital Discovery & eEvidence, one of the leading publications in the discipline of eDiscovery.

Mr. Eisenberg is a founding member of one of the premier policy groups serving the disciplines of electronic record management and E-discovery, The Sedona Conference Working Group on Best Practices for Electronic Document Retention & Production (SWG), and has contributed in the creation of white papers on best practices for electronic data discovery and electronic record management for SWG.

Mr. Eisenberg graduated, with honors, with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Long Island University and received his law degree (Juris Doctor) from the Hofstra University School of Law. He is presently pursuing a Masters of Science in Computer Systems at the University of Maryland in its Executive Masters Program. He practiced law as a member of the Bar of the State of New York as both a transactional attorney and civil litigator. Mr. Eisenberg has authored numerous articles on Electronic Data Retention Protocols and E-discovery for the National Law Journal, BNA's, Digital Discovery & E-Evidence, The New York Law Journal and various publications of the American Law Media organization (e.g.: Rethinking Electronic Document Retention; Strange Tales of Errant E-mails; E-managing a Crisis of Trust; The Homesteader and The Gunslinger; A Salient Sarbanes-Oxley Sequel: Mandatory Data Retention Rules; Proactive on Backup Tapes, Morgan Stanley - The Next Step, Meeting the Challenge, The Discovery of ESI in the Corporate Context, Taking Technological Measure, etc). He is a co-author of "Mastering Written Discovery" (4th Edition, 2004) published by Matthew Bender/LexisNexis.

Paul A. Meyer

Paul Meyer has been with the Legal Department of Towers Watson or its predecessors since 1994. Primary responsibilities include management of litigation in common law and civil code jurisdictions throughout the world, and legal support for the company’s records management, E-Discovery and data security processes.

Previously, he served on the Global Quality Leadership Team and the Records Management Policy Group of Watson Wyatt Worldwide. He has conducted compliance programs throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Paul has been a speaker at meetings of professional associations throughout the world on electronic discovery, data privacy laws, and risk management. He is currently, an active member of the Sedona Conference’s “Working Group 6: International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure,” and the Corporate E-Discovery Forum. A law review article he wrote on recent developments in international data privacy law is scheduled to appear in the next issue of the Canada-United States Law Journal.

Before moving in-house, Paul was an associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Deacons – Graham & James. Before that, he maintained a trial practice at a leading real estate firm in the metropolitan Washington area.

Paul received his B.A. in philosophy, cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh’s Honors Program in 1979. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1983, which he attended as Canada-United States Law Institute Scholar. He served for two years on the Law Review (staff and Associate Editor) and authored a Note published at 33 Case W. Res. L. Rev. 294-325.

Paul is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Tax Court.
