Employment Law in Spain

Spanish labor laws have experienced a dramatic change in the last couple of years. This recent legislation has introduced new types of contracts, reduced termination severances, eased collective dismissals and substantial amendments of working conditions, reconfigured maternity entitlements and, in general, amended many provisions affecting day to day matters which you need to be aware of if you are managing Spanish workforce.

Presumably, however, all major reforms have already taken place. This is, therefore, a perfect time for a first approach to Spanish employment legislation if you are managing a multi jurisdictional workforce and Spain has just been included in your portfolio. If, on the contrary, you have already had some contact with our local regulations, you need to make sure that the basic knowledge you acquired is up to date with the latest reforms to avoid misleading preliminary decisions.

Join Maria Eugenia, Associate at Olswang Spain, as she:

  • Gives you a very practical overview on Spanish employment laws that will help understand local advisors' language
  • Highlights how Spanish employment laws differ from other countries
  • Explains the main consequences of the latest reforms on day-to-day issues
  • Identifies select Spanish idiosyncrasies that will be useful in understanding the famous cultural gap
