IRS received more than 330,000 Form 990Ns from January through October, as small exempt organizations scrambled to save their tax exemption, IRS Tax Exempt and Government Entities Commissioner Ingram says at an American Law Institute-American Bar Association tax-exempt conference. Ingram says that mail poured into IRS prior to an extended Oct. 15 deadline IRS granted to Form 990-N (E-postcard) and From 990-EZ filers. While Ingram says she could not say how many of those that filed were at risk of losing their tax exemption and how many had been filing their Forms 990-N all along, more than half of the forms received came in after their original May 17 due date.
