Sept. 12 — Former Securities and Exchange Commissioner Luis Aguilar is joining Falcon Cyber Investments LLC, a private equity firm that invests in cybersecurity, the firm said Sept. 12.

Aguilar stepped down from the agency at the end of 2015 after more than seven years in the position.

“I understand firsthand the threats we face, and since leaving the SEC, I've been searching for the right platform to continue contributing to the cybersecurity field and work against the harm cyberattacks can cause,” Aguilar said in a news release.

Aguilar stayed on with the agency after his term expired in June 2015. His departure left the SEC with three commissioners, including Chairman Mary Jo White.

According to a filing with the SEC, Aguilar also plans to join the board of directors at Donnelley Financial Solutions, a financial communications company, once it is spun off from RR Donnelley & Sons Co.
