Q. Todd Dickinson (pictured below left)

POSITION:
Executive Director, American Intellectual Property Law Association. We are one of the oldest and largest independent bar associations, with over 14,000 members practicing in all areas of IP law.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB:
The opportunity it gives to keep my hand in all aspects of the IP profession and policy, both domestically and internationally. This, in turn, has lead to a great side benefit: making many great friendships around the world with an amazing array of talented people.

MOST MEANINGFUL PROJECT:
By far, the passage last year of the America Invents Act (AIA), and the subsequent development of the related rules package with the USPTO. It was enormously gratifying (and somewhat surreal) to be standing with colleagues in the Blue Room of the White House on the day the bill was signed into law, discussing the passage and the coming virtues of the AIA with the President of the United States… The work on the rules commenced almost immediately and continues today, with AIPLA playing a key role in their development and finalization.

ENJOYS:
Reading; cooking; travel (almost a prerequisite in this job); Steelers football
