Fernández, María José

María José Fernández has been a member of the Labor and Social Security practice group at Ferrere since 2008. At the same time, she heads up the firm’s Department of Residences, giving advice on immigration issues, as well as in procedures for regularizing the situation of foreigners who come to work in Uruguay.

Fernández has participated in the processes for establishment of various prestigious companies in Uruguay. She collaborates with them on issues related to hiring of personnel, regularization with government agencies and compliance with current legislation. She also has vast experience in advising international companies, collaborating with them on resolving labor and social security conflicts.

Fernández has published specialized articles on labor subjects and has participated in various congresses on this field in Uruguay, in some occasions as lecturer or speaker. She was an instructor of Contracts of the School of Law at Universidad Católica del Uruguay from 2008 to 2011.

Fernández studied law at Universidad Católica (Uruguay) and graduated as Attorney in 2008. She is currently writing a thesis for the Master’s Program in Civil Law with emphasis on Contract Law, which she studied at the same university.

María José Fernández is a member of the Uruguayan Bar Association.
