Developed by the United Nations, GHS stands for the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, and OSHA alignment means big changes for U.S. companies that make, transport, handle, or otherwise use chemicals. On March 26, 2012, OSHA published a final rule that aligns the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) with GHS. The revised HCS, called HazCom 2012, went into effect last May. The first deadline for employers is this year – Dec. 1, 2013. That is the date by which employers must have employees trained on the new GHS styled label elements and on the new safety data sheet format.

This 90 minute webinar will provide an overview of OSHA’s changes to the HCS and discuss steps your organization can take now to meet the Dec. 1 deadline, as well as other important steps to ensure compliance throughout the transition to GHS and HazCom 2012.

The webinar is designed to:

  • Review GHS and HazCom 2012 at a high level, providing context for the changes in the United States and employer training obligations
  • Discuss in depth OSHA’s training expectations for meeting the Dec. 1, 2013 deadline
  • Provide strategies for meeting all HazCom 2012 deadlines while maintaining compliance and avoiding risk to employees or businesses
  • Address the most frequently asked questions related to GHS adoption
