Al Iannuzzi, Dr. James Fava

 Al Iannuzzi

Al Iannuzzi is a senior director in the Worldwide Environment, Health & Safety department at Johnson & Johnson where he directs the global product stewardship and green marketing programs. He has more than 30 years experience in the EHS field and leads Johnson & Johnson’s EARTHWARDS™ greener product design process, Healthy Future 2015 product stewardship sustainability goals, green marketing, emerging issues, and environmental toxicology programs. Prior to J&J, Al worked for the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection and at an environmental consulting firm.  Al received his Ph.D. degree in environmental policy from the Union Institute & University in Cincinnati where he researched EHS self-regulation programs.  He is the author of the books, Greener Products: the Making & Marketing of Sustainable Brands (CRC Press 2011) and “Industry Self-Regulation and Voluntary Environmental Compliance” (CRC Press, 2002) and has written numerous articles on product stewardship and environmental compliance. 

 

 Dr. James Fava

Dr. James Fava is founder and senior director of Five Winds International, a strategic consulting service. James has more than 30 years experience working with companies and organizations to develop and apply the concepts and tools of sustainability to their operations, processes, and products. He regularly interacts with senior management to help them understand sustainability and how they can use that knowledge to create long-term business value. James also is founder of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Life Cycle Assessment Advisory Group and headed the U.S. delegation in the development of International Organization for Standardization Life Cycle Assessment standards. He is currently chair of the United Nations
Environment Programme Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Life Cycle Initiative and is serving on the World Resources Institute/ World Business Council for Sustainable Development Steering Committee for the Scope 3 and Product GHG Protocol efforts. For over 10 years, James has chaired Five Winds' Product Sustainability Roundtable, whose mission is to improve the performance of member companies by providing support, benchmarking, and best practice advice to their product-oriented programs. James earned a PhD in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Maryland.
