Grenig, Jay E.

Jay Grenig is a Professor of Law at the Marquette University Law School, where he has taught civil procedure, dispute resolution, torts, property, employment law, labor law, federal courts, administrative law, and remedies. He is the founder and former director of the Children with Special Health Needs Law Project at Marquette. A member of the Marquette Law School faculty since 1980, he served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 1988-92.

Professor Grenig previously taught at Pepperdine University School of Law, the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Willamette University College of Law, Vermont Law School, Golden Gate University, Chapman College, and the University of Southern California Graduate School of Public Administration.

Mr. Grenig is the reporter for the Local Rules Committee of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and a member of the Wisconsin Judicial Council. He previously served as reporter for the Civil Justice Reform Act Task Force for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Mr. Grenig is the former chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools and has served as a consultant to the National Commission on Employment Policy.

Mr. Grenig served as president of the Center for Public Representation, one of the oldest public interest law firms in the nation, for four years. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of University Lake School, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Rights of Citizens with Handicaps. Mr. Grenig is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators, the American Law Institute, the Order of the Coif, the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, the Thurston Society, the State Bar of Bar of Wisconsin, and the State Bar of California. He is a vice chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He was named one of Wisconsin's Leaders in the Law 2008 by the Wisconsin Law Journal. Mr. Grenig is the author of numerous books books and articles on dispute resolution and civil procedure. He is a contributing editor to the American Bar Association's Preview of Supreme Court Cases.

Mr. Grenig received his B.A. from Willamette University and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

He is a co-author of Bloomberg BNA Book's How to Cost Your Labor Contract.
