GROUNDWATER DECLINES SEEN, EVEN IN WET CLIMATES

Groundwater is any country’s most valuable, yet hidden, resource. It is responsible for half of this nation’s drinking water supply, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

But groundwater is declining because of overpumping and climate change, scientists say. Even where water seems abundant, increasing demand is stressing the ability to re-charge groundwater supplies everywhere.
