House Bill Details in Flux as Lawmakers, White House Seek Exit Strategy

The House will vote today on a modified plan that would raise marginal income tax rates on household income in excess of $1 million in defiance of a presidential veto threat, as the two sides appear to dig in their heels on the best way to avert the fiscal cliff. President Obama and House Speaker Boehner trade barbs, with Obama saying the two proposals are “pretty close” and urging Republicans to “take the deal,” and with Boehner telling the president to “get serious.”
