House Republicans will vote on their bill to extend the payroll tax cut today with the goal of leaving just enough time to respond to any changes the Senate makes before adjourning for the year, House Speaker Boehner says. Boehner suggests that he is open to compromise with the Senate over the bill (H.R. 3630), but feels strongly that controversial language that would allow construction to begin on the Keystone XL pipeline needs to stay in the legislation. A Boehner aide says it remains unclear how the House leaders will react if the Senate returns the bill without the Keystone pipeline language.
