On July 1, 2009, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched a bold, new audit initiative by issuing Notices of Inspection (NOIs) to 652 businesses nationwide which is more than ICE issued throughout all of last fiscal year. Janet Napolitano, Secretary, Department of Homeland Security, also announced that the government will push to add E-Verify requirements to all federal contracts after September 8th.

The 652 NOIs alert business owners that ICE will be inspecting their hiring records to determine whether or not they are complying with employment eligibility verification laws and regulations. This crackdown and ICEs more routine use of civil penalties can result in fines of $110 to $3,600 per unauthorized worker or per I-9 Form.

Now is the time for employers to conduct self-audits of immigration policies and procedures---BEFORE the government knocks.

This timely Webinar will address the Nuts and Bolts of immigration self-audits. Using a self-audit can reduce compliance risks, eliminate doubts about your level of compliance, and result in more uniform and effective immigration policies and procedures.
