International Labor and Employment Laws, Volumes IIA and IIB, Third Edition covers developments between 2007 and 2008 in countries beyond the major economies discussed in Volume I, including several European Union-member states and countries in East Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Included in the Third Edition is information on extraterritorial application of each country’s laws and availability of class action procedures. The extensive bibliography provides sources of additional information on the countries discussed in the individual chapters, including sources on the internet and addresses of key offices.

 

Supplement Information

The new 2011 Cumulative Supplement to Volumes IIA and IIB of International Labor and Employment Laws covers developments into 2011 and include discussions of the following topics:

  • Significant changes to the Antidiscrimination Act in Austria that reduce pay disparities between men and women and end certain special protections for disabled persons in their first four years of employment
  • New rules in Denmark relating to sick leave and workplace health and safety and the Supreme Court’s ruling on appropriate sums for employer violations of the Employment Certificates Act
  • Recent rulings in Israeli courts holding that an express choice of foreign law in an employment contract will not, in general, override Israeli protective labor law
  • The ruling in Israel that employer access to employee mailboxes is subject to the employees’ right to privacy including, for personal content, consent
  • The amendment to the Israeli Equal Employment Opportunity Law invalidating employer questions regarding employee characteristics that might lead to discrimination
