Course Description: This course is a follow-up to the IRA Essentials course and provides practical with detailed discussion of the requirements and federal income taxation of individual retirement accounts. This course examines investment opportunities and restrictions, and explains, for example, how an entity can become a disqualified person and which investments are likely to be considered prohibited transactions. The course also covers the rules governing contributions, distributions, rollovers, withholding and reporting.

  • List the required provisions and federal income taxation of IRAs and Roth IRAs created under §408 and §408A; 
  • Discuss in detail the rules governing IRA contributions, fees, distributions, and rollovers; and 
  • Explain the investment restrictions and withholding, reporting and disclosure rules.
