Furloughs at the Internal Revenue Service due to budget cuts from sequestration, set to go into effect today, will not begin until after the tax filing season concludes, Acting Commissioner Miller says. “Should sequestration occur, we will still be able to operate, but our overall funding for the remainder of the fiscal year will be reduced,” Miller says in a memorandum to employees. Employees face five to seven furlough days beginning in the summer, with no more than one furlough day per pay period, Miller says.
