As the Oct. 15 deadline for submitting Form 990 nears for some 300,000 small charities in danger of losing their tax exemption, IRS pulls together a host of online resources to help them avoid losing that preferred status. Charities that have not filed a Form 990 for three consecutive years are in danger of losing their exemption if they fail to file by the extended Oct. 15 deadline. To boost their chances of coming into compliance, IRS updates its website with a new toolkit that includes the list of organizations that have failed to file their forms for three consecutive years.
