The following is a sample country profile from International Trade Reporter's Export Reference Manual, Export Reference Guide on CD, and Export Reference Guide on the Web.
Includes Sikkim, which became an Indian state in 1975, and Kashmir, disputed by India and Pakistan. About 70 percent of Kashmir is under Indian control, and shipments there are subject to Indian trade regulations.
Bhutan is an independent nation whose trade regulations are essentially the same as India's.
Note: Effective May 13, 1998, the U.S. government will deny licenses for export to certain Indian governmental and parastatal agencies of specific high technology items and goods controlled for nuclear proliferation or missile technology reasons, suspend existing licenses, and place pending license applications on hold.
