A Tax Partner with Sorainen in Latvia with more than 15 years advising on tax & customs matters, Janis Taukacs is head of the firm’s Tax & Customs practice in the Baltic states and Belarus. Mr. Taukacs has been involved in many large-scale projects for the firm, and has published over 100 articles, blogs, and interviews. He is also a frequent lecturer at Latvian and international conferences, seminars and universities.

Mr. Taukacs’ portfolio of tax and legal clients includes over 200 local and international businesses. His areas of expertise include tax and customs advice and optimization; advance ruling requests; transfer pricing compliance; local and cross-border mergers; market entry strategies and structuring with a focus on new Baltic holding opportunities; permanent establishment risks; and input VAT deductibility optimization, among others.

He is a member of the Latvian Bar Association of which he is the Deputy Chairman of the Tax and Finance Division; the International Fiscal Association; International Bar Association; AIJA (Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats) Tax Law Commission; VAT Forum and the International VAT Group VAT Europe.
