Help on Searching

A query template allows quick assisted searching for words and phrases.

Click on in the left frame to access the query template:

Then choose a search option from the drop-down list:

Enter your search term(s) in the text-entry box:

Searches are not case-sensitive.

You can use search operators, phrase/proximity searches, and wildcards to broaden or narrow your search.

Note: If you are searching for an acronym, enclose it in quotations.

Using Search Operators, Phrase/Proximity Searches, and Wildcards

Operator	Finds Records Containing
annual or quarterly	either annual or quarterly
annual and quarterly	both annual and quarterly
permanent xor temporary	permanent but not temporary, and temporary but not permanent
Phrase/Proximity	Finds Records Containing
"collective bargaining"	words collective and bargaining, consecutively and in that order
"collective bargaining"@5	words collective and bargaining within 5 words of each other (any order)
"civil penalty"/5	words civil and penalty within 5 words of each other (exact order)
Wildcard	Finds Records Containing
work*	work, workers, workhorse, workout (replaces multiple characters or no characters)
wom?n	woman, women (replaces single character)

To perform your search, click on

. Search hits display in bold.

Browse the search hits on the first page, and then click on and to move between pages with search hits.

Click on to clear the search hits.
