Lisa Murtha is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura Consulting and is based in Philadelphia where she is part of the Health Solutions practice. She has over 27 years of experience working on complex clinical research and healthcare compliance issues. She focuses her practice in corporate ethics and compliance programs, and in both sponsor and research site clinical research compliance, which includes Physician Sunshine Act compliance, aggregate/promo spend issues, off-label use issues, issues related to payments to health care professionals, human subject protections, effort reporting/grant accounting, scientific misconduct, conflicts of interest, internal auditing and monitoring, and clinical trial billing and process improvement.

Prior to joining Ankura, she was a senior managing director at FTI Consulting and a partner in the Healthcare and Life Sciences practice at Dentons US LLP. Prior to joining Dentons in 2009, she served as the practice leader for the clinical research and compliance practice for Huron Consulting Group, and Vice President of Audit, Compliance and Chief Privacy Officer for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the Stokes Research Institute, and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Practice Association. Ms. Murtha also served as a Managing Director for KPMG LLP’s New York based health care fraud and compliance practice and as a Senior Manager for Deloitte and Touche’s compliance practice.

Ms. Murtha is a founding Board Member and former officer of the Health Care Compliance Association and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Prior to her consulting career, Ms. Murtha worked as the Chief Compliance Officer for the University of Pennsylvania and University of Pennsylvania Health System, and prior to that as the Corporate Compliance Director for Pennsylvania Blue Shield.

She earned her B.A. and J.D. from the Pennsylvania State University.

Ms. Murtha is a co-author of the Bloomberg BNA Health Law & Business Portfolio Series No. 3200, The Regulation and Management of Clinical Research.
