The new ASTM E1903-11 Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Process updates the framework for Phase II environmental site assessments. Phase II assessments often follow Phase I assessments in transactional settings, but may be undertaken in a wide variety of legal, regulatory, and commercial contexts. The standard therefore is adaptable to any situation where assessment is undertaken voluntarily, rather than in response to regulatory agency requirements. The standard provides for assessment activities to be tailored to the needs at hand and conducted in accordance with the scientific method. Significantly, E1903 now is a “standard practice” versus a “guide,” meaning that it now is prescriptive in nature rather than simply providing guidance. This webinar will review the development of the new standard and the steps and methods that must be followed to comply with the standard and obtain technically sound results.
