Nicholas Crist

Nicholas Crist has been with KPMG Malaysia since January 1997 where he is now Executive Director.  He joined KPMG London in 1990, and in 1993 he was seconded to KPMG Sydney, where he gained invaluable experience.

Nicholas services a number of clients’ based in the insurance, reinsurance and banking sectors including multinational groups as well as companies listed on the Bursa Malaysia Bhd.

He has extensive international experience and has had considerable involvement with tax diagnostic reviews and international structuring and restructurings including advising on regulatory matters.  He has also extensive U.K. tax experience including acquisitions and disposals as well as reorganizations and listings.

Mr. Crist is familiar with the Labuan tax legislation and has been involved with Labuan leasing and financing arrangements. He has also been involved with due diligence reviews of Labuan companies.

He has assisted clients in applying for tax incentives (including pre-packaged incentives) from relevant regulatory authorities such as the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, as well as with exchange control applications to Bank Negara Malaysia.

The International Tax Review recommended Nicholas Crist as an international tax specialist for Malaysia in 2008 and 2009.

Nicholas Crist is the author of Malaysian Withholding Tax and Treaties Online, published by Commerce Clearing House (“CCH”), and the chapter on Malaysia in the Bloomberg BNA’s Global Tax Guide.
