No White Flag for Camp on Tax Overhaul, Even as Effort Heads for 2014

Now isn't the time to give up on plans to rewrite the tax code, said House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.).
After a private meeting with Republicans on the panel Nov. 15, Camp said that, although he might not hit his goal to mark up legislation before the end of the year, there is no reason to abandon ship. At the meeting, Camp briefed panel Republicans on his Nov. 14 meeting with House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other Republican leaders (221 DTR G-6, 11/15/13).
The party brass were complimentary on progress on the tax bill to date, and Camp said he is moving forward despite earlier speculation that leadership would put the brakes on his efforts to redraw the tax code.
