President Obama warns that he will not accept any payroll tax cut extension bill that would include “extraneous” provisions, such as the Keystone XL pipeline language, expected to be part of the $180 billion House Republican payroll tax bill. The House Republican proposal is still under discussion, but it is expected to extend the current 2 percentage point cut in the employer side of payroll taxes for another 12 months, as well as extend unemployment insurance benefits and a prevent a cut in the fees paid to Medicare providers for two years.
