Phil Peters is a Partner in Farella Braun + Martel LLP's Business Transactions Group.  Mr. Peters advises clients on a wide range of domestic and international business transactions, including the purchase, sale, financing and reorganization of businesses.  He has served as outside general counsel and advised companies in the insurance, energy, construction, financial services, software, technology, hospitality, newspaper and gaming industries.

Mr. Peters is well known for his experience in handling insurance company acquisitions and other transactions on behalf of insurers.  In recent years, he also has focused on investments and mergers involving contractors, broker/dealers and renewable energy companies and projects.  Most recently, Mr. Peters has been involved in a variety of solar project development matters.  Over the years, he has worked on countless deals within the engineering, construction, power and energy industries, including international joint ventures.  He received his B.S. from Tufts University and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

He is the author of Bloomberg BNA Corporate Practice Portfolio Series No. 31-3rd, The California Corporation: Legal Aspects of Organization and Operation.  This portfolio volume analyzes the application of California's General Corporation Law (the "GCL") and Corporate Securities Law (the "CSL") to the organization and operation of domestic corporations, "pseudo-foreign" corporations incorporated elsewhere but doing most of their business in California, and other foreign corporations with activities in the state.
