According to the EEOC, pregnancy discrimination claims are on the rise due to an increase in employee awareness of their rights, resulting in women becoming more vigilant about reporting alleged discrimination.

Consider the following:

  • Are you prepared to insure that your company does not inadvertently run afoul of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA)?
  • Do you know what is covered by the broad language of the Act?
  • Who, exactly, falls within the definition of a “woman affected by pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition?”
  • Under what conditions must an employer provide light duty to an employee because of pregnancy or a related medical condition?

Join BNA and Jan E. Hensel, Partner in the Labor and Employment Department at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, for a discussion of all aspects of the PDA including how its prohibitions against discrimination apply to:

  • hiring and firing decisions
  • benefits
  • leave rights
  • light duty job assignments
  • and more!

Jan E. Hensel will also discuss cases interpreting the Act, including circuit splits, mixed motive cases, and remedies available.
