Washington, DC (June 13, 2006) – Michael Triplett, a reporter/editor at BNA's Daily Labor Report , has won the National Press Club's 2006 Newsletter Journalism Award for the “Best Analytical or Interpretive Reporting Piece.”

Triplett's winning story, titled “Overtime Claims Brought by Video Gamers Expose Workplace Issues for Tech Employers,” was published in May, 2005, and brought to light burgeoning employment and labor law issues inside the video gaming industry. The article tracks the shift from a climate where working round-the-clock was part of the excitement of an emerging high-tech field, to one in which discussion rages about whether technology workers must be paid overtime and whether working conditions would be improved through forming unions.

“This award validates the hard work that Mike puts into finding and reporting labor stories that are coming out of emerging industries,” said DLR Managing Editor Susan Sala. “Stories like this keep our subscribers abreast of labor issues that may eventually affect legislation and policy in both traditional and developing industries.”

Written for executives who must stay ahead of key labor union action, labor legislation, court decisions, regulatory actions, and administrative rulings, Daily Labor Report (DLR) tracks the most significant regulatory and legal developments affecting the workplace.

“Mike's excellent reporting exemplifies the BNA tradition of in-depth, probing and objective journalism,” said BNA Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Gregory C. McCaffery. “We're extremely proud of Mike's achievement and his colleagues join me in congratulating him on this recognition from the National Press Club.”

Mike Triplett has been writing about workplace issues for BNA since 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, and holds a law degree from the American University 's Washington College of Law in Washington , DC . He lives in Northern Virginia .
