Washington, DC (May 8, 2006) – The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) has presented its 2006 Gold Award for “Best Publication of the Year” to BNA's Medical Research Law & Policy Report ( MRLR ). ASHPE honors excellence and achievement in the health care publication field. The awards recognize work produced in calendar year 2005.

Written for executives who must stay ahead of the many federal and state agencies and governing bodies that regulate the fast-changing world of medical research and clinical trials, Medical Research Law & Policy Report tracks the most significant regulatory and legal developments in the field.

“This award was a nice surprise that validates the really hard work of many people in the Health Care Division and elsewhere at BNA,” said MRLR Managing Editor Randy Kubetin. “We started this publication four years ago because, in a climate of increasing enforcement attention on medical research and clinical trials, health care compliance executives were desperate for this kind of information and couldn't get it anywhere else. It is still the only publication in the country that provides comprehensive coverage of the vast array of laws, policies, and court actions that govern medical research and all its attendant issues.”

The Society also tipped its hat to BNA's Health Care Fraud Report , with a Bronze Place award for “Best News Section” for that publication's October 12, 2005 , Federal News section. Health Care Fraud Report monitors the broad range of health care fraud and abuse issues in the private insurance industry, managed care organizations, and federal and state programs.

“We know we bring value every day to busy executives who simply don't have the time to monitor the constantly changing legal and regulatory landscape in which their companies operate,” said Kubetin, “but it's always reaffirming to have our work recognized by a third party. We are delighted to be recognized by ASHPE this year.”
