Washington, DC (December 1, 2006) – The National Labor Relations Board 2006 mid-year union election statistics are now available from BNA PLUS, the custom research and document delivery division of BNA, Inc. BNA PLUS maintains a database of election information collected from the NLRB and its regional offices.

Election tallies and certifications from the 35 regional offices of the NLRB are merged with certified election results reported by the NLRB national office in its monthly "Cases Closed" report, which also assigns industry and worker type codes. The BNA PLUS report provides representation and decertification election statistics by major union affiliation, industry, unit size, state and for white-collar workers. Some of the findings contained in the report are:

•  The number of NLRB representation elections held during the first six months of the year decreased from 1,161 in 2005 to 802 in 2006. However, unions won about the same percentage in the first half of 2006 (61.6 percent) compared with the first half of 2005 (60.5 percent).

•  The number of workers eligible to vote in representation elections decreased from about 72,000 in the first six months of 2005 to 58,000 during the same period in 2006. The number of workers organized by unions also decreased from about 35,000 in first-half 2005 to 27,000 in first-half 2006.

These are just some of the statistical highlights from the mid-year 2006 report. BNA PLUS also can provide more detailed election information or statistical reports by employer, international or local union, industry group, and geographic area.
