Washington, DC (August 2, 2007) – BNA®, publisher of the authoritative and universally recognized Tax Management Portfolios, has released the latest addition to the Estates, Gifts, and Trusts Series, Portfolio 806, Immigration and Expatriation Law for the Estate Planner.

The Portfolio gives lawyers referential material that is useful for analyzing federal immigration and expatriation law issues that commonly arise in connection with forming estate plans for clientele who are planning to enter or leave the United States.

The Portfolio provides guidance for the estate planner who occasionally confronts immigration and expatriation law issues in practice. It discusses the unique issues faced by clients who are non-resident non-U.S. citizens, U.S. citizens who live abroad, permanent U.S. residents, and individuals who are current or potential immigrants. These issues include: (1) the requirements for U.S. citizenship and naturalization; (2) the administrative agencies responsible for the execution of U.S. immigration law; (3) visa classifications; and (4) the special legal and tax issues associated with expatriation.

This Portfolio may be cited as Heimos, 806 T.M., Immigration and Expatriation Law for the Estate Planner.
Michael A. Heimos is a member and manager of Mullin Dean & Heimos, LLP, of Denver, CO., and Geneva, Switzerland. He is highly sought after for his advice to U.S. and foreign individuals, banks, insurance companies, accounting firms, law firms, and foreign governments on complex international tax and estate planning issues.  Mr. Heimos is author of BNA Tax Management Portfolio 837, Non-Citizens – Estate, Gift and Generation-Skipping Taxation, and serves on the BNA Tax Management Estates, Gifts and Trusts Advisory Board.  He is a member of the U.S. District Court of Colorado, U.S. Tax Court and Colorado bars.
