Leading Publisher BNA Expands Tax and Accounting Services with Training and Education Acquisitions

Arlington, Va. (July 15, 2009) – BNA today announced that it has acquired the training seminar and conference businesses of the Council for International Tax Education (CITE), Atlas Information Group, and the Structured Finance Institute (SFI).  These groups, headquartered in White Plains, NY, provide continuing education programs and networking opportunities for tax, accounting, legal, and business professionals.

“These businesses complement and enhance the array of products and services we offer,”  noted Darren McKewen, Vice President and Group Publisher, BNA Tax and Accounting.  “For 50 years, BNA Tax Portfolios have provided a practitioner-to-practitioner approach to explaining complex topics, helping professionals achieve new levels of excellence and client service.  These seminars and conferences accomplish the same mission — in a live, interactive setting.”

Since its establishment in 1989 as the Council for International Tax Education, CITE seminars and conferences have educated U.S. and foreign multinationals and companies engaged in international business on the tax, legal and accounting aspects of doing business overseas. Seminar speakers are experts in international taxation and finance fields and the participants include a broad range of corporate, accounting, and legal professionals.

Atlas and SFI events focus on a variety of tax, legal, and financial topics, including long-running programs on film and TV finance, captive insurance, and structured financial products.  As with CITE events, participants can earn continuing education credits while gaining the most up-to-date information and networking opportunities needed to improve their job performance.

These acquisitions, which will be integrated into the BNA Tax & Accounting product and service offerings, mark a continuation of the company’s move into tax education and training.  BNA has for several years offered an expanding program of tax and accounting audioconferences and webinars.  In addition, last year BNA acquired the European American Tax Institute.  EATI provides training and a professional network for international tax practitioners, with particular expertise in training non-US tax professionals on US tax law and accounting systems.
