Arlington, Va. (April 27, 2009) – Specialized news and information publisher BNA today announced the appointment of Audrey Hipkins as Vice President and Chief Product Officer. In this role, Ms. Hipkins will be responsible for a newly-created Product Research & Development unit, with the mandate to develop and implement a customer-facing technology strategy, including the ongoing development and enhancement of BNA’s new Web platform.

Audrey Hipkins joined BNA in 1993 as a Senior Systems Analyst in the Information Technology Division. She was appointed Manager of CD-ROM Development in 1996 and was promoted to Technical Director for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) services in 1997. In 2000, she was named Group Publisher for the company’s EHS Division, with responsibility for the division’s 25 publications and services, guiding all phases of new product development, and developing business-to-business strategic alliances.

“Audrey is uniquely suited to this new position, given her roots in Information Technology, blended with her nine years producing innovative editorial products,” said Gregory C. McCaffery, BNA’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “She is a proven innovator and, in the role she now assumes, will help BNA implement a unified vision and approach to creating and launching customer-friendly products that integrate our quality content with our technology.”

Prior to joining BNA, Ms. Hipkins was President of Quick Source, Inc., where she created CD-ROM products for various government agencies and commercial publishers. She previously worked as a programmer for Automated Sciences Group, IBM, and Draper Laboratories.

Hipkins graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in computer science and engineering, and earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.

She serves on the board of Washington, DC’s Higher Achievement Program. She is also a native of Washington and a graduate of Wilson H.S. in N.W. She still resides in the District, with her husband and three children.
