Arlington, Va. (June 10, 2009) – BNA editor Toby McIntosh, along with CBS News correspondent and anchor Bob Schieffer, Public Broadcasting correspondent and anchor Gwen Ifill, and U.S. News & World Report White House correspondent Kenneth T. Walsh, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the DC Pro Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists. The chapter’s 2009 Distinguished Service Award went to Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy for his many years of advocacy for disadvantaged and disenfranchised residents of the metropolitan area. The honors were awarded Tuesday night at the chapter’s Dateline Awards ceremony at the National Press Club.

Toby McIntosh, a former White House correspondent for BNA, was the long-time managing editor of BNA’s flagship Daily Report for Executives. He is now the company’s Director of Editorial Quality.

As a reporter, McIntosh covered antitrust, consumer protection, the Office of Management and Budget, information policy, the relationship between emerging technologies and government, Senate holds, and regulatory reform. He covered the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations as a member of the White House Press Corps, then spent 15 years at the helm of Daily Report for Executives, also editing four other publications during those years.

“Toby’s deep and lifelong interest in the process of government – combined with a personal passion for access to information – have led him to become a respected expert on Freedom of Information Act issues,” said BNA President Gregory McCaffery. “This specialty has more than once benefited BNA, as it has the news and information industry.”

McIntosh received the Joseph Brechner Freedom of Information Award in 1990 for groundbreaking articles on the then-enormous roadblocks to obtaining access to electronic records. He is the recipient of 1992 awards from the National Press Association and the Newsletter Publishers Foundation for an article on Senate holds, and has won awards from the American Library Association, the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, and the business Council for the Reduction of Paperwork. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Oberlin College.

“We at BNA are extremely proud of this recognition of Toby McIntosh, who has made significant contributions to developing the exceptional quality of content that differentiates BNA in the information marketplace,” said McCaffery.
