Arlington, Va. (July 27, 2009) – BNA’s Multistate Tax Report has won both Gold and Silver Awards for 2009 from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) in the category of “Newsletter- News Analysis, Investigative, Research.”  The Gold Award went to Dolores W. Gregory for her article “Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Streamlined System's Compliance Review Process Under Fire From Business Groups.”   The Silver Award was for BNA’s 2008 Survey of State Tax Departments.

These awards follow on from a string of past successes for the Multistate Tax Report in ASBE’s annual review.  In 2008, the story “More States Moving to Mandatory Combined Reporting, Seen as Most Effective Weapon Against Income Shifting” won Silver in the newsletter category for best feature article. In 2007, BNA’s 2006 Survey of State Tax Departments won Bronze in the newsletter category for best original research. The Multistate Tax Report had also received ASBPE awards in 2004 and 2005 for general excellence in the newsletter category.

“We are honored that Dolores’ article and our annual Survey of State Tax Departments have received top honors for editorial excellence,” said George Farrah, executive editor, BNA Tax & Accounting. “Both pieces are strong examples of the enterprise reporting and research we provide our subscribers to keep them informed of new, important tax trends. These awards are fitting recognition of our State Tax group’s achievements under the direction of Managing Editor Karen Irby,” Farrah said.

Individual copies of the 2009 BNA Survey of State Tax Departments may be purchased for $185 (plus applicable state sales tax, shipping and handling) by going to http://tmstore.bna.com/Pagemanager.aspx?pageId=7725 or by calling 800.372.1033.
