Arlington, Va. (April 28, 2009) – Specialized news and information publisher BNA today announced the appointment of Robert Shew as Vice President and Group Publisher, HR & Payroll/EHS. In this role, Mr. Shew will be responsible for creating innovative new products and custom content solutions for the Human Resources & Payroll, as well as the Environment Health & Safety product divisions.
Bob Shew came to BNA in 2004 as the Operations Manager for BNA Books. He has served as Group Publisher, Human Resources & Payroll, since July 2005, where he has initiated new and creative product offerings and custom content solutions.
“Bob Shew has the right combination of hands-on experience and business acumen to lead these two business units,” said Gregory C. McCaffery, BNA’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “The dramatic changes in the legal and regulatory environment that are impacting corporate EHS and talent management functions are resulting in an increased demand for new and innovative information solutions,” McCaffery said. “Bob and his team will be responding to that demand.”
Prior to joining BNA, Shew was the Chief Operating Officer at the Thompson Publishing Group, Inc., where he oversaw all marketing, editorial, production, IT, customer service, and fulfillment functions. Previous to that position, he served as the Director of Circulation, in charge of Marketing, Budgeting, Customer Service & Fulfillment for Congressional Quarterly, Inc.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from McGill University, and earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He lives in McLean, Virginia, with his wife, Cecilia, and two daughters.
